“Inhabit” is inspired by traditional scientific illustration and field study and depicts medicinal and edible botanical specimens that persist in the university’s diverse ecosystems. The series of four drawings of native and introduced species, shown with root systems intact, reveals hidden parts of the plant that sustain its biological function. The North Campus, once a wet woods, now includes landscaped and lawn areas that interface with the forest, lake and built environment.
From left to right: mayapple (Podophyllum peltatum), dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), ground ivy (Glechoma hederacea), broadleaf plantain (Plantago major).
