Egg cartons, tissue boxes, birds and airplane seats were the subjects of Brood, my second solo exhibition at Nina Freudenheim Gallery which opened on March 6, 2020. With drawing from direct observation as daily practice, mundane objects, pop culture, repetition, and nature corkscrews into a lifelong obsession with the passage of time. Each image is isolated on its own white page and as a member of a larger family. The seemingly motley imagery are series unto themselves and weave together with multiple variations. These small works on paper are rendered in pen and ink, watercolor, and colored pencil. The exhibition was shuttered to the public days after the opening, due to the of the pandemic.
